PESHAWAR, April 7: An accountability court on Friday accepted the plea-bargain application of Muhammad Iqbal, a senior auditor of the Accountant General’s office, and ordered his release in a corruption case.

He deposited Rs898,000 in respect of his bargain with NAB authorities. He was charged with embezzlement in the provident fund of the police force deputed in the Peshawar University.

He was booked under the National Accountability Bureau Ordinance, 1999.

The court presided over by Miftauddin Khan accepted the arrangement which had aready been approved by the NAB chairman.

The accused was arrested on Nov 12, 2005. Another accused in this case, Reham Gul, who was an ASI and was working as a GP Fund clerk in the campus police, was earlier released after he had deposited about Rs200,000.
