LARKANA, April 7: The Sindh National Front has called for dialogue to resolve the issues of Balochistan. The front’s executive committee, in a meeting presided over by its chairman Mumtaz Ali Bhutto on Friday, criticised military operations in Balochistan and tribal areas and siege of the house of former chief minister Sardar Akhtar Mengal in Karachi. It demanded withdrawal of forces and opening of dialogue with the leaders concerned to resolve the issues. It demanded lifting of siege of Sardar Mengal’s house.

The committee said that the law and order situation in Sindh was fast deteriorating. It alleged that corrupt elements were holding key position at the centre and in the province.

It called for provincial autonomy and reduction in the centre’s powers. The committee said anti-Sindh forces were trying to create differences in the Sindh Qaumi Ittehad.

It alleged that a large number of people from India were entering Sindh through the Khokhrapar rail route with false documents.

It said demolition of ancient Sindhi settlements was aimed at settling outsiders there and turning Sindhis into a minority.

The meeting demanded release of detained political workers. It said the whereabouts of Dr Safdar Sarki and other missing leaders should be made public and if there was any case against them, they should be tried in courts.
