First Asian High Sheriff


LONDON, April 7: Dr Khalid Hameed, CBE, has been appointed as High Sheriff of Greater London — the first Asian to hold the office. Dr Hameed is currently chairman of the Alpha Group of Hospitals in Britain and chairman and chief executive officer of the London International Hospital. He was previously CEO and executive director of the Cromwell Hospital, London, says a press release. Dr Hameed is also chairman of the Commonwealth Youth Ex-change Council.
