Australians arrive in Bangladesh

DHAKA, April 6: Australia, led by Ricky Ponting, arrived in Bangladesh on Thursday to play two Tests and three One-day Internationals on their maiden tour of the South Asian nation.

The visitors were due to hold a news conference Friday.

Australia made three last-minute changes to their Test squad, recalling Jason Gillespie along with Phil Jaques, and inducting Mitchell Johnson, who was already in the one-day squad and is set to make his Test debut.

The trio replace Justin Langer, Shaun Tait and Michael Kasprowicz who were injured in the just-concluded Test series against South Africa.

The first Test starts Sunday at Fatullah near the capital, Dhaka, while the second begins April 16 in Chittagong.

The first One-day International will be played April 23 in Chittagong, while the second and third matches will be held April 26 and April 28 respectively at Fatullah.—AP
