Zubair slams winner

LAHORE, April 6: A last-gasp goal by Ahmed Zubair helped Guard Filters/Garden Gas beat Master Paints 7- 6 1/2 in Sardar Abdul Samad Polo Cup on Thursday.

A half-goal handicap, helped the losers take 1 1/2-1 lead in the first chukker.

Three-goal Sufi Muhammad Aamir struck a field goal for the Master Paints.

Five-goal Taimur Ali Malik opened his account for the winners.

The losers maintained the lead 3 1/2-2 in the second chukker. Aamir scored his second while Ashfaq added one. Taimur banged home with his second goal.

The fight for supremacy continued in the third chukker in which five goals were scored--three by the winners and two by losers — as Master Paints came out with a half goal lead (5 1/2-5).

Taimur scored two more while Zubair his first for the winners. Sufi Muhammad Haris and Aamir scored one goal each for the losers.

Mir Shoaib Ahmed increased Master Paints lead to 6 1/2-5 in the beginning of the fourth chukker.

But Taimur scored his fifth to reduce the margin, before Zubair scored the winner, converting a 30-yard penalty hit with a lofted shot.
