ISLAMABAD, April 4: Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri told the visiting US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Richard Boucher, on Tuesday that a package approach by the US to nuclear energy for peaceful use was essential to prevent an arms race in South Asia.
He was talking to Mr Boucher on Pakistan’s perspective on the Indo-US civil nuclear cooperation agreement with reference to Pakistan’s growing energy requirements.
He said the package approach would promote restraint and address legitimate civil nuclear energy needs of Pakistan, a statement issued by the foreign minister’s office said.—Q.A.
