SWABI, April 4: Minister of State for Water and Power Amir Muqam has said that people are dissatisfied with the performance of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal government in the province. Speaking at public meetings in Gadoon Amazai area on Tuesday, the minister said the MMA government had failed to deliver and people no longer supported its policies.

He alleged that the chief minister was focussing on his hometown and he was not taking interest in development of other areas.

“It is time to provide electricity, gas and potable water to people and there is no place for leaders who make false pledges,” he said.

He said President Pervez Musharraf had allocated Rs700 million for supply of natural gas to the district. He said all areas in the district would get gas supply.

He said funds had been sanctioned for improvement of the Pehur High Level Canal.

He said no villages would remain without electricity by 2007.

Mr Muqam inaugurated electricity supply to Malikabad, Gandaf and Ghani Chathra areas.

District Nazim Shahram Khan said the district government had received Rs100 million announced by the president during his visit to the area. The funds would be used on welfare of people, he said.

APP adds: State Minster for Water and Power Engineer Amir Muqam has said that next general elections will be held on time and Pakistan Muslim League will again emerge as a winning party.

He was addressing a grand public meeting after inaugurating a grid station in Oghi. The grid station has been completed at a cost of Rs150 million.

The minister said that Rs8 million had been set aside for replacement of old pylons and transformers in the area. He said the grid station would open a new era of development besides resolving the problem of low voltage and load shedding in the area.
