No bird flu detected

ISLAMABAD, April 4: A high-level meeting was told here on Tuesday that no bird flu has recently been detected in the poultry. However, 40,000 capsules for bird flu treatment have been purchased by the National Institute of Health (NIH). The meeting presided over by Health Minister Mohammad Nasir Khan was told that the capsules for the bird flu treatment had been purchased from the national pharmaceutical companies to meet any eventuality. These capsules would provide treatment to 4,000 patients, while orders have also been placed for bird flu suspension for children.

Besides, stocks of “emiflu” are also available at the WHO regional office, Cairo.

WORLD HEALTH DAY: A series of activities have been planned to observe the World Health Day. In this regard, the health minister directed involvement of people from all walks of life in line with this year’s theme: “Working together for health.”

Meanwhile, the ministry of health has announced that it had directed all manufacturers and importers to withdraw all brands/generics of “metamizole” except “novalgin.”
