Trio help team claim cup

LAHORE, April 2: Three goals each by Dhruvpal Godara, Iftikhar Ali Khan Simba and Junaid Ahmed helped Al Khan win the Punjab Police-Servis polo cup, thrashing Punjab Police 9-3 in the final on Sunday. The winners made a stormy start, scoring three goals making it 3-2 ,in the first chukker to eliminate 2-goal handicap advantage.

Iftikhar scored the first through a solo field effort. Junaid equalized the score 2-2 with his first goal.

Godara pumped in his first, converting a penalty.

Al Khan forged ahead 4-2 in the second chukker as Godara struck his second goal.

Al Khan were 6-3 up in the third chukker. Godara scored his third while Iftikhar his second.

Yaqub Sial converted a 30-yard penalty for the losers.

In the fourth chukker, the winners scored three more through Junaid (2) and Iftikhar.

Three goals by Amir Shahid and two by Raja Samiullah helped United Solutions grab third spot after a narrow margin 7 1/2-5 win against Guard Rice/Master Paints.

Azhar Ali struck one goal for the winners.

For the losers, Taimur Ali Malik scored three while Atif Tiwana and Sufi Muhammad Aamir added one goal each.
