DADU, April 1: The District Council here on Saturday demanded in a unanimously passed resolution that the National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) open its sub-offices in union councils of the district.
Hidayat Chandio, a council member, remarked that Nadra teams had not visited district’s villages in remote areas hence hundreds of villagers were still without new computerized national identity cards (CNICs).
Hidayat lamented Nadra was taking more than six months to issue CNICs. Other council members, Nazir Leghari and Syed Altaf Shah said the union council nazims were ready to provide buildings to Nadra to open its sub-offices.
The council meeting was presided over by Naib Nazim, Syed Mohammad Shah.
A Nadra representative informed the council they were ready to open sub-offices should their high-ups grant them permission.
Hidayat moved another resolution, which demanded an ambulance for Basic Health Unit, Saeedpur, the lack of which put patients and their relatives in great trouble while shifting patients to big cities for advanced treatment.
Abdul Ghaffar Khahero, another council member, demanded an inquiry into the purchase of machinery for dialysis centre at Civil Hospital Dadu, while Ali Bux Solangi pointed out that since treatment through dialysis was expensive more funds should be allocated for the centre.
The members demanded the district and Sindh governments appoint required staff for dialysis centre, which the EDO health, Dr Dhani Bux Thebo said would start working soon after the urologist, hired to run the system, completed his training.
