ISLAMABAD, March 31: Indian immigration officials in Amritsar followed the book when they denied the wife of Pakistan’s acting Chief Justice Rana Bhagwandas entry into the city, according to the Indian High Commissioner S. Menon in Islamabad.
Mr Menon told reporters here on Friday that though Justice Bhagwandas could continue his bus journey to Amritsar his family was made to turn back at Wagha because they did not possess “the correct visa”.
Both had valid visas but only Justice Bhagwandas could use Amritsar as the entry point for catching a train to Lucknow. Mr Menon said the visa regime should be changed. India had proposed to Pakistan a revised visa regime to make it quick, easy and rational, he said.
