KARACHI, March 28: The successful events held under the World Social Forum resulted in promoting the positive image of Karachi as a peaceful and progressive city. The Forum will prove a great help in augmenting the talents of the youth and highlighting their constructive thinking.
These views were expressed by the representatives of the World Social Forum in a meeting with Naib Nazim Nasreen Jalil at her office here on Tuesday.
The delegation, led by WSF organiser Karamat Ali, comprised of Indian Parliament member Nirmila Desh Pande, Jamal Jumma of Palestine besides representatives from Nepal, France, Equador, Bangladesh, Kenya and other countries.
Welcoming the visitors on behalf of city district government, Nasreen Jalil told them that they were struggling for the welfare of humanity, attainment of justice and elimination of feudal system and extremism.
“MQM chief Altaf Hussain, too, wants feudal system to be weeded out to replace with a system in which rights and justice are available to people,” Nasreen said and added that since taking over the city government, the Haq Parast leadership is serving the cause of people without any discrimination.
She pointed out that the MQM was country’s only party which was making practical efforts for elimination of feudal system and had come into power for this very objective.
The Muttahida, she said, had for the first time brought middle class into power to serve the masses without any discrimination. She said that extremism would have to be done away with for women development. Besides social and educational development of women, she said, they needed to be brought to stand at their own feet. For this purpose, there was need to change the thinking of men who should take an initiative from their home by eliminating distinction between their daughters and sons.
Nasreen Jalil said Karachi was the only city where women were extended exemplary respect and people coming from other provinces send their girls to educational institutions here.
On the occasion, she presented members of the delegation Ajrak, flowers, Karachi guide book and souvenirs as gifts and later hosted a lunch for them.
