KARACHI, March 23: A meeting to review arrangements made for the Expo 2006, scheduled from March 29, was held at the Conference Room of Civic Centre on Thursday. It was presided over by DCO Karachi Fazalur Rehman. Syed Abid Ali Shah, the EDO Enterprise and Investment Promotion, DO Community Development and other concerned TMOs also attended the meeting.

Fazal issued directives to the heads of concerned departments to ensure improving the greenbelt from Sharea Faisal to the Metropole Hotel, besides ensuring that streetlights were in order, and the area around the Civic Centre was kept clean.

He instructed that major buildings and hotels in the city should be illuminated so that foreigners could be attracted by its outlook.

He directed the administrations of Shah Faisal, Saddar, Jamshed and Gulshan-i-Iqbal towns to clear all wall chalking in their respective areas, and carry out mechanized sweeping for better cleanliness.

Documentaries and booklets regarding ongoing development projects should be made and released, he added.

He further said that Karachi was the hub for investment and the city government was doing its best to attract foreign investors.—PPI
