Gold Medal golf

RAWALPINDI, March 22: The Prime Minister Gold Medal Open Championship starts off Thursday at the Rawalpindi Golf Club with the senior professionals and subsidiary events. Organisers said that the event for professionals and amateurs will begin on Friday.

Matloob Ahmed of Lahore Gymkhana is to defend his title in the professional category while Asad Mahmood is the reigning champion of the main trophy which is decided on amateur net scores.

More than 300 golfers will vie for honours in different categories of the championship which was not held last year.
