Violence not to hurt ties: Singh

Published March 15, 2006

NEW DELHI, March 14: India will not allow attacks by militants known to have their bases in Pakistan to hurt a peace process with Islamabad, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said on Tuesday.

But efforts to make peace would succeed only if President Pervez Musharraf keeps his promise to curb guerillas operating from areas under Islamabad’s control, he said. “The continued provocation by terrorists will not weaken our resolve to build a normal relationship,” Dr Singh told parliament.—Reuters
