PPP condemns workers’ arrest in Sindh

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD March 12: People’s Party Parliamentarians deputy parliamentary leader in the National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf has condemned what he said the strong arm tactics of the Sindh government against political opponents and victimization of PPP supporters in the province in general and in Tharparkar district in particular.

In a statement here on Sunday, he said former Awam Dost taluka nazim Abdul Ghani Khoso and two relatives of PPP Tharparkar chapter president Dr Mahesh Kumar Malani — Engineer Prem Kumar and Engineer Jawaharlal — were arrested early last week on fake corruption charges.

“A fake FIR has also been registered against them and eight others by the anti-corruption department,” he said. Mr Ashraf said Abdul Ghani Khoso had outrightly supported Shaukat Aziz in his by-election in Tharparkar but parted ways with the Sindh chief minister when he was declined taluka nazimship.

He said the PPP supported Ghani Khoso when the latter fielded his nephew against the candidate of Arbab Ghulam Rahim in the election of taluka nazim.
