Omar Sharif to direct Indian film

MUMBAI, March 10: Actor-turned director Omar Sharif will become the first Pakistani to direct an Indian film this month. Omar Sharif will shoot a comedy, ‘Tum Mere Ho’, to make history — but the film has nothing to do with the Pakistan-India rivalry, according to US-based producer Masood Ali.

“We want to build a bridge of friendship between the two countries. This is the kind of initiative we are trying to take,” he said.

The film, featuring Bollywood great Rajesh Khanna, will be shot in Hyderabad Deccan and Chicago, but Masood Ali said there was little chance of the film being released in Pakistan.—AFP
