SARGODHA, March 9: Two students were killed and an instructor injured while resisting a dacoity bid here on late Wednesday night. Reports said Waseem Hassan, a local law college student and son of Kallur Kot DSP, was living along with a commerce student, Hafiz Muhammad Bilal and an instructor of local vocational institute in a hired room at Bashir Colony.
At about 2am, two armed men knocked at the door and as the inmates opened it, they barged into the room. When the intruders tried to snatch cash and valuables from the students, they resisted them, on which the outlaws opened fire, killing Waseem and Bilal on the spot and injuring the instructor.
The dacoits then fled away with two mobile phones and Rs3,500 cash.
Satellite Town police have registered a case and are investigating. No arrest could be made so far.
WHEAT: Punjab Food Minister Muhammad Iqbal told journalists that during the forthcoming season, the wheat procurement target for the four Sargodha region districts was 0.2 million metric tons, whereas, at present, the food department had acquired 127,866 metric tons, out of which 82,163 metric ton wheat was in stores, while 45,702 metric tons wheat was lying in the open.
He said under the chief minister’s subsidised flour scheme in Sargodha district, 16,170 bags out of total 206,715 had been distributed among the deserving people, while in Khushab 12,766 bags out of 51,800 had been give to the poor.
He said in Bhakkar district, 3,811 bags out of 48,121 had been delivered to the people, while in Mianwali district, 16,170 out of 67,794 bags had been distributed so far with the collaboration of food department employees and union council nazims.
