KASUR, Marc h 3: Hundreds of villagers in Phoolnagar (Bhai Pheru) clashed with police as they protested on Monday night against an apostate.

A police official and some of the protesters suffered injuries.

Kasur DPO Ahmad Mobin said that protesters had been dispersed and the situation had been brought under control by late night. He said as demanded by villagers, police had arrested the alleged apostate and registered a case against him under section 295/C/A of blasphemy law.

The villagers gathered after announcements from mosques alleging that Abdul Hameed had declared himself a prophet.
