$130 million investment

NEW DELHI, March 3: Promising a second “green revolution”, US President George W. Bush announced on Friday an investment of $130m to boost Indian agriculture and biotechnology as he wrapped up a visit here.

“By working together, the US and India will develop better ways to grow crops and get them to market and lead a second green revolution,” said Mr Bush in a speech from a medieval fort in New Delhi.

“This initiative will invest $100 million to encourage exchanges between American and Indian scientists and to promote joint research to improve farming technology,” said Mr Bush, wrapping up a three-day visit to India.—AFP
