Kamran wants to improve further
LAHORE, Feb 12: Kamran Akmal says he has still to go a long way to become a world class wicket-keeper besides establishing himself as a reliable batsman.
“I am still in the learning stage of my career and would do my best to become a useful part of Pakistan cricket team,” the wicket-keeper said on Sunday.
Kamran has come in for lot of praise for his performances in the series against England and India this season.
The youngster said he enjoyed his dual role as a wicket-keeper/batsman and was striving hard to improve in both fields.
“The task is not easy because as a wicket-keeper you are under a lot of pressure keeping an eye on every ball and then to bat with greater responsibility,” he said.
Kamran further pointed out it was not fair to compare him with the world’s best wicket-keepers as he had a long way to go.
“But such comments are a source of inspiration for me and I get a lot of motivation to improve further and whenever I play a useful knock and help the team the joy is double and I feel quite satisfied,” he asserted.
He said he was learning finer points of the game from former wicket-keepers such as Wasim Bari and Rashid Latif.
“Learning never ends and learning polishes your skills and helps in overcoming grey areas and I always love to learn and seek guidance from stars of the past,” he said.
To a question he said he wanted to play some good innings in the ongoing ODI series against India.—APP
