KARACHI, Feb 12: Samir Elnour steered Bounce Club to a magnificent 73-39 points win over Neighbourhood Wolves in the final to win the inaugural AKU Inter-club basketball tournament at the Aga Khan University Sports and Recreation Centre on Saturday.

The winners led from the word go and kept on enhancing their lead.

They led the first quarter 17-12 while the score stood at 40-25 at the end of half time. The third quarter saw them enjoying 57-31 lead while they rounded off the final with an emphatic 73-39 win.

Samir was the main architect of his team’s triumph contributing 27 points.

He was followed by Lawrence Lobo and Sheikh Abdullah who scored 17 and 9 points. Zain Tariq credited himself with 16 points for the losers.

For his outstanding performance, Samir was declared ‘Best Player of the Tournament’ while the ‘Top Scorer of the Tournament’ award went to Bilal Abid of AKU who accumulated 85 points in four games.

A special consolation prize was also given to Jack Jian of Chinese basketball team for demonstrating excellent skills in the competition.
