KARACHI: War against Iraq opposed

KARACHI, Feb 11: The representatives of various organizations of professionals on Saturday declared to support a call by an NGO to hold a protest rally on March 18 against the continued occupation of Iraq by the US and its allied forces.

The meeting, which was chaired by Akhtar Hussain, a former president of the Sindh High Court Bar Association, condemned the US and its allies for waging war against Iraq, military attack on Afghanistan and recent threats to Iran.

The participants upheld that the March 18 rally organized by the ‘Stop The War Coalition (STWC)’, which also coincides with the third anniversary of Iraqi occupation, vowed for making it a success.

The meeting called upon all political parties, professionals’ bodies, NGOs, trade unions and youth organizations and peace loving citizens to raise their voice for peace.

The meeting was attended by Nadeem Qureshi, Moin Siddiqui, Malick Rafique, Shaukat Hayat, Shahadat Awan, Faheem Riaz Siddiqui of PML (N), Noor Naz Agha, Ali Yawar of Irtiqa, Baseer Naved, Faiz Ghangro and office -bearers of the KUJ and the Karachi Press Club.
