PESHAWAR, Feb 8: The NWFP Inspector General of Police Mohammad Riffat Pasha on Wednesday paid a visit to Peshawar Cantt where he reviewed security arrangements for Muharram processions. During his visit the IGP reviewed security arrangements and issued necessary instructions to police officials.
He also met members of various peace committees of Peshawar and local religious leaders. They expressed complete satisfaction over the security measures and assured their full cooperation to the police and local administration.
The IGP also went to different camps established for providing timely help to the participants of the procession.
Later talking to mediamen, the IGP informed that foolproof security measures were taken for peaceful observance of Muharram in the province and heavy contingents of police have been deployed on all imambargahs and different routes of processions.
Chief capital city police Mohammad Habib-ur-Rehman, SSP Peshawar Mohammad Saeed Wazir and other high ranking police officers accompanied the IGP on this occasion.
