PESHAWAR, Feb 8: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (F) will announce names of its candidates for the Senate elections on Saturday. This was decided in a meeting of the JUI provincial executive council held here on Wednesday and was presided over by its president Sheikh Amanullah.
A press release said that the council discussed strategy for the upcoming Senate elections and constituted a three-member committee to finalise names of the candidates.
The committee will hold negotiations with different political parties to field joint candidates for the elections. It was decided that final list of the candidates would be announced on Saturday.
The council directed the party office-bearers in all 24 districts of the province and its adjoining tribal areas to observe complete strike on Friday next to condemn the publication of cartoons in European newspapers.
The council decided that provincial ministers, MNAs, MPAs and senators would lead rallies in their respective districts.
The party asked the government to strain diplomatic ties with Denmark, Germany and France and withdraw ambassadors from these countries.
