Tent villages in NWFP to be closed by March 31

By Our Correspondent

ABBOTTABAD, Feb 7: Tent villages in the province will be closed by March 31 and more than 80,000 earthquake survivors will be settled in their homes for which necessary arrangements are being finalized.

Regional relief commissioner Sahibzada Anees said on Tuesday that food and other items, including tents, would be provided to survivors before tent villages were wound up.

He said that goods were being air-dropped through helicopters in upper parts of Hazara where food supply through roads was not possible.

He said compensation had been granted to quake victims in all the five districts of the NWFP and added that a committee had been formed to see if there was anybody left.

He said that temporary posts created for tent villages would be abolished by March 31.
