BAHAWALPUR, Feb 3: Punjab police chief Major Ziaul Hassan (retired) says that 990 spots of eight districts in the province have been declared as sensitive for Muharram. Presiding over a meeting of police officials of Bahawalpur, D.G.Khan and Multan ranges here on Friday, the IGP reviewed security measure for Muharram in south Punjab.

He said that sensitive places identified were: Lahore 111, Sheikhupura 51, Gujranwala 166, Rawalpindi 96, Sargodha 124, Faisalabad 131, Multan 135 and D.G.Khan 92.

He said that 113,000 policemen in addition to army and razakars would be deployed for Muharram duty to provide protection to 8,727 processions and 30,208 Majalis in the province.

Earlier, Bahawalpur range DIG Ghulam Haider Marth briefed the IGP on the security plan. He further told him that the range crime graph had declined last year. He said that a record 19,000 proclaimed offender were arrested last year.
