KARACHI: No layoffs in KWSB: MD

KARACHI, Feb 3: KWSB MD Brig (retd) Iftikhar Haider has said that neither the KWSB is being privatized, nor its employees are being laid-off.

The MD was speaking to officials and staff of the KWSB here on Thursday He said that only applications of letter of interest from experienced firms have been invited for printing, distribution and recovery of bills, with the objective to create an atmosphere of competition for further improvement in their performance.

He advised the officers and staff of the tax department to make all-out efforts in accelerating the recovery campaign. He said that staff of KWSB is associated with such an institution where they should work hard round-the-clock so that citizens get maximum facilities.

Brig Iftikhar said that the City nazim, Syed Mustafa Kamal, wanted that the KWSB should be self-sufficient.

The objective behind the reorganization of the KWSB, he said, was to provide all facilities to the people under one roof.

He said this step would also help in making coordination between engineering and tax departments for bringing an improvement.—APP
