Six of a family killed in accident

KOHAT, Jan 25: Six members of a family were killed and 11 others seriously injured after a head-on collision between a coaster and a truck on the Indus Highway near the Banda Daud Shah area on Wednesday. The victims, included a woman and a child, police said.

The deceased have been identified as Rehmatullah and his wife, Shah Nawaz, Nazeer Khan, Manzoora Bibi and a child Belu Khan. The family members had gone to Peshawar to receive Rehmatullah, who belonged to the Kulahci area of Dera Ismail Khan.

The bodies were sent to the native village of the victims.

STUDENT KILLED: A third-year student of the Government Post-Graduate College Kohat was found dead near the college campus on Tuesday.

The student had been shot thrice in the head and chest some hours ago, police and hospital sources said.

Meanwhile, the college’s principal lodged an FIR at the Saddar police station and closed the college for one week to avoid any untoward incident.

College principal Zar Wali Khattak said he found the student’s body during a routine inspection of the college and hostel.

He summoned the staff and students staying in the hostel who identified the victim as Syed Nizam Hussain of the Kachai village and a fellow hostel resident.

Police were questions a second-year student, Tanveer Hussain, in connection with the murder. He was arrested at 3am while firing in the air near the college.
