KARACHI: Woman dies in accident

KARACHI, Jan 20: A woman died in an accident in Karimabad following which enraged area people set the minibus on fire. Police said that Ishrat, 35, was on a motorcycle along with her husband when a speeding minibus of W-11 route knocked them down. The couple was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where the woman was pronounced dead while her husband was provided treatment.

Police claimed to have arrested the errant driver.

ENCOUNTER: A suspect was shot dead in an encounter at the Electronic Market on Friday.

Police said that Muhammad Tahir had withdrawn Rs50,000 from MCB branch at Zaibunissa Street. Two suspects on a motorcycle snatched the amount and fled. Mr Tahir informed the police about the incident.

The suspects were intercepted near Electronic Market where shooting took place resulting in the death of one suspect. However, his accomplice managed to flee.

Police recovered the snatched amount of cash and a TT pistol from his possession.

BODY FOUND: The bullet-riddled body of a young man was recovered on Friday morning.

Police said that Ali Asghar, 20, had gone to attend a wedding ceremony in Baldia on Thursday night. His body was found from a garbage dump on Friday morning.
