Bankers triumph

LAHORE, Jan 14: Two goals by Ahmed Ali Tiwana helped Soneri Bank qualify for the final of the Mueen Uddin Cup Polo beating The Collectibles 4- 2 1/2 on Saturday.

The winners will face Bank Alfalah in the final on Sunday.

A half-goal handicap of the losers helped them to lead the first chukker 1 1/2-1.

Feroze Gulzar drew first blood for the bankers while Yaqub Sial struck for the losers.

Ahmed’s first goal in the second chukker put his side ahead 2-1 1/2 while his second in the third chukker increased the lead (3- 1 1/2).

Ahmed Nawaz Tiwana scored for the losers while Tanvir Tariq for the winners.

Two and a half goal handicap and two goals by Taimur Mawaz Khan enabled Garden Gas to enter subsidiary final, beating CCL 4 1-2-4. Sufi Muhammad Aamir (2), Sufi Muhammad Haris (1) and Arsalan Najeeb (1) were the scorers for the losers.
