SWABI, Jan 4: Women councillors of Swabi Tehsil Council would soon get Rs5.5 million for development works in their respective areas. This was stated by Tehsil Nazim Hanif Gul Jadoon on Wednesday. He said that there is no concept of government and opposition and all the councillors would get equal share in the development funds.
“There would be no discriminatory distribution of funds among the councillors”, he said.
Mr Jadoon said that during the previous government the funds were not equally shared by the tehsil councillors which had created a sense of deprivation among the members, especially the lady councillors.
“But there is no such concept in our mind and the opposition also belongs to us. Their positive criticism is welcome”, he said.
However, he urged that the allocated funds should be properly utilized by the councillors in the best interest of the voters who elected them, believing that they would work for their welfare.
He also said that if the financial position of the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) was better, the allocation would be increased.
Meanwhile, lady councillors said that they would work side-by-side with the male councillors to end the backwardness of the region.
