ISLAMABAD, Jan 3: Pakistan has denied a report published in a British news paper that it was engaged in talks to purchase eight nuclear reactors valuing seven billion US dollars from China.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tasneen Aslam told BBC on Tuesday that Pakistan stands in need of safe nuclear energy in the wake of its fast growing economy. Pakistan wants that it acquires resources of safe nuclear energy, she added.
The report in Financial Times says that Pakistan is holding talks with China to purchase eight nuclear reactors is not correct, she said.
As paper said these reactors will be used to produce over 4,000 megawatt electricity.—Online
