KARACHI, Jan 3: A meeting of KESC City Coordination Committee presided over by In charge Distribution Jamil Gul Shaikh was held at the KESC head office on Tuesday to review the power supply arrangements to be made on the occasion of Eidul Azha.

Senior Member of the committee Moulana Mohammad Hanif, Chief Engineers Shabbir Solangi, Anis Qureshi, G. R. Bhatti, Deputy Chief Engineers A.H. Parchani, Amir Bux Memon, Syed Abid Ali, Mohammad Amjad and Superintendent Engineer Anis Ansari also attended the meeting.

Mr Sheikh informed the meeting that all possible arrangements had been finalized to maintain power supply from 1st Zilhaj to Eidul Azha and added that standby gangs would be available at major commercial centres and KESC customer centres to meet any emergency situation.

He further informed that standby gangs had also been arranged for major Eid gahs, mosques and imam bargahs during Eid prayers.

During the meeting, progress of the ongoing system improvement schemes to upgrade the power supply system of the city were also reviewed.

The meeting was informed that under the ongoing system improvement schemes, one underground feeder was energized at Shanti Nagar Gulshan-i-Iqbal.

Besides three new 11kv HT Links have also been installed and energized at Gulistan-i-Jauhar Block-19 and Rifle Club DHA for ensuring operation flexibility and uninterrupted power supply.

Mr Sheikh informed that under the system improvement scheme 19 new 250KVA PMTs had also been installed and energized at Jehanabad-1 Lyari, Ittehad Town Baldia, Dehli Colony, Clifton Block-2, C-Area Bhittai Colony, Sectors: 11-G, 12-D, 5B-C, 16-B North Karachi, Block-2 and 11 F.B. Area, Bhangoria Goth Ghariabad, Frontier Colony, Nazimabad No.3, Islamia Colony Orangi Town, Block-D North Nazimabad.

Two new 500 KVA PMTs at Sector-15C Scheme-33, one 400 KVA PMT at SITE and one 100 KVA PMT at Block-2 F.B. Area have also been installed and energized.

SHUTDOWN NOTICE: The KESC is carrying out system improvement work at Korangi, Defence View and Liaquatabad. The power supply to the following areas may be interrupted on Jan 4 from 9am to 5pm, a KESC release said on Tuesday.
