HYDERABAD, Jan 3: Around 145 sub-inspectors of Sindh police are awaiting promotions despite the fact that their promotions have been endorsed by the departmental promotion committee in October last year after a delay of seven years.

The SIPs will be promoted in next cadres i.e inspector after their notification for promotion is issued which is being delayed by officials concerned of the central police office.

The promoted SIPs have submitted letters to authorities concerned in this respect but in vain.

Some of promoted officers claimed that they are not drawing salaries of inspector on account of non-issuance of promotion letters.

The DPC comprising additional IGP Sindh, Saleem Tariq Lone (chairman) and Akhtar Hussain DIG establishment Karachi CPO, Saud Ahmed DIG headquarters and Dr Amir Ahmed Shaikh AIG establishment CPO had examined the service record of 391 police officers on October 5.

A police officer said the DPC finally confirmed 145 officers for admission to list “F” according to their seniority-cum-fitness.

The promotion of other officers was deferred for various reasons which included chequered record, disposal of cases pending trial in court, complaint, inquiry and annual confidential report.

Some of officials were not considered for being ineligible.

“Our promotions were due since 1998 after we were promoted as SIP from ASI in 1995”, said a SIP, who believed that issuing of promotion of notification was being unnecessarily delayed by CPO authorities.

He said it was causing financial loss to SIPs because they were drawing salary of SIPs i.e. Rs10,000 while salary of an inspector is Rs14,000 plus.
