LAHORE, Dec 14: The National AIDS Control Programme, in collaboration with the Unicef and UNDP, organized an orientation workshop for electronic media on HIV and AIDS here on Wednesday.

Punjab AIDS Control Programme project director Dr Ali Razaque briefed the media people on HIV and AIDS prevalence in Punjab as well as in the country. He said recent mappings of HIV and AIDS cases showed that there was a high prevalence in injecting drug users in Punjab and Sindh.

He said Pakistan was now being considered as high prevalence country because concentrated HIV epidemics had already occurred in Sindh and Punjab. There were around 100,000 estimated people living with HIV and AIDS.
