KARACHI, Dec 5: The present government has a clear policy that any decision with regard to the construction of the Kalabagh Dam would be taken after a consensus is developed on the issue and that also in the greater interest of the nation. This was stated by the Sindh Minister for Women Development, Dr Saeeda Malik, said here on Monday.

In a statement, she however advocated for the construction of the dam in question describing it essential for having water reservoirs.

“Keeping in view the technical aspects of the project, mutual consultation and an amicable resolution of the issue is necessary,” she asserted.

The early decision of

constructing a dam for bringing a revolution in the agriculture sector and for the progress and prosperity of the nation was necessary, however the government wants to take the nation into confidence before any decision, she said.—PPI
