Saudi forces arrest 17 militants

By Our Correspondent

RIYADH, Dec 3: Saudi Arabia’s security forces on Saturday detained 17 people suspected of links to Al Qaeda in early morning raids in residential areas of Riyadh.

Thirteen people were arrested during raids in the capital and the governorates of Kharj and Mujma. The other four individuals were picked up at undisclosed locations.

There were no injuries or damage. Soldiers seized arms and ammunition, documents and computers.

According to sources, some of the detainees had links with the Al Qaeda while others were suspected of cooperating or sympathizing with the network, a ministry of interior spokesperson told the Saudi Press Agency.
