KARACHI, Dec 3: Talented Atiq Latif Bux, a scion of Bux family, gave a giant-killing performance when he overcame fighting Naveen Perwani 5-4 to advance to the final of the 9th KC Open snooker championship at the Amir Bux billiards hall, Karachi Club, on Saturday.
Atiq is set to meet veteran Muhammad Yousuf who defeated Khurram H Agha in the other pre-final in contrasting style 5-1.
The best of eleven frames final between Atiq and Yousuf will be played on Sunday at 3.00pm.
Atiq took a flying start by taking a 3-0 lead taking the first three frames 67-21, 74-31, 67-46. However, he surrendered the advantage as Naveen reduced the lead taking the next two frames 64-57, 88-39 with a fine break of 74 in the fifth.
Atiq again enhanced his tally to 4-2 grabbing the sixth frame 78-0. Naveen who retained Latif Master’s title just two month back picked up the following two frames 63-8, 76-40 to even the score four-all in the match.
Finally, Atiq maintained his cue control and potting claiming the decisive frame 51-38.
Former world champion, Muhammad Yousuf, conceded only one frame in his 5-1 smooth sailing over Khurram Agha.
Yousuf who failed to win any of the four ranking titles this year, was home 56-27, 43-78, 78-9, 82-19, 76-16, 65-28.
