PESHAWAR, Dec 3: The immigration staff of the Federal Investigation Agency on Saturday arrested a person at the Peshawar airport when he allegedly tried to board a Dubai-bound flight on fake documents. Mohammad Sher, a resident of Mardan, was trying to fly to Dubai by the Aero Asia flight No 650 on travel documents of his cousin, said Assistant Director (immigration) Inamullah Khan Gandapur.

He said that passport No KA-192249 was issued to Raad Khan, a first cousin of Mohammad Sher. The two cousins had close resemblance and the accused wanted to take advantage of it, said the official.

The case was referred to the FIA’s passport circle for further action, he added.

TRAFFIC FINE: Traffic police fined some 500 drivers Rs80,000 for violating rules, said an official statement issued here on Saturday.

A checkpoint was set up near Gora Qabristan on University Road a few days ago and during checking traffic police found over 500 vehicles in violation of various rules.

Most of the violators were drivers of buses and vans who were fined on charges of using pressure horns, hanging female pictures, playing songs and driving without licences or proper documents, the statement said.

In another press release, the city police claimed to have arrested 64 proclaimed offenders in the last couple of weeks and recovered eight Kalashnikovs, one Kalakov, seven rifles, 46 pistols and 260 cartridges of different weapons.
