Inam stuns Nomi
ISLAMABAD, Dec 1: Peshawar’s Inam Gul sprang a surprise on Thursday beating third seed Nomi Qamar 6-4, 7-5 to advance to the semifinals of the Federal Cup Tennis Championship at the Islamabad Club. Muhammad Shafiq, the No.7 seed also scored an upset win over 4th seed Jalil Khan, younger brother of Aqeel Khan, after being on court for two and a half hours. He carved out a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory.
Aqeel, the top seed defeated Shahzad Khan 6-3, 6-1 while Asim Shafik walloped Mahmood Khan 6-1, 6-1, to also go through.
In Friday’s prefinals, Aqeel will take on Inam while Shafiq will be pitted against Asim in the other semifinal.
