ASI attacks police, gets two POs released

GUJRANWALA, Nov 19: An assistant sub-inspector attacked a police party and got freed his two cousins (proclaimed offenders) with the help of his men at Lohianwala near Rawalpindi Bypass Intersection on Saturday. Reports said Tariq and Afzal were wanted in dozens of dacoity, murder and kidnap for ransom cases. On a tip-off, police conducted a raid at Lohianwala bus stop and arrested them after a brief encounter. When they were being escorted to police station, Dhulley ASI Muhammad Arshed attacked the police party along with his two men, got them released and fled.

On receiving information, DPO Dr. Arif Mushtaq reached the spot, suspended the ASI from service and got registered a case against him and his accomplices under the anti-terrorism act.

Couple killed: A couple riding on a motorcycle was killed on Saturday in a road mishap near Rahwali.

Reports said that Din Muhammad along with his wife Sabira Bibi was on his way by two-wheeler. As the couple reached near the Sugar Mills Chowk, a speeding car hit them from the rear. They fell on the road and died on the spot.

SHOT DEAD: Jannat Gul, a ghee mill watchman, was shot dead on resistance by unidentified bandits during a dacoity bid in Aimanabad on Saturday.

ADJOURNED: The local anti-terrorism court No.1 adjourned hearing in the Sialkot jail case till Nov 24 as the prosecution apprised the court that complainant Syed Ghulam Abbas Bukhari, father of slain judge Sheharyar Bukhari, was suffering from some ailment.

LOCAL HOLIDAY: DCO Khalid Masood Chaudhry on Saturday announced a local holiday on Nov 21 for by-elections on PP-97 seat.
