BAGHDAD, Nov 12: United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan flew in to Baghdad on a surprise one-day visit on Saturday, his first since US-led forces ousted Saddam Hussein .
His trip coincided with a car bombing in the capital and followed visits by the US Secretary of State and the British Foreign Secretary.
“The idea is that reconciliation is absolutely essential in Iraq — I don’t think anyone would argue with that,” Mr Annan said at a press conference.—AFP
