Evenly poised

By Our Sports Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Nov 11: The PCB National Inter-region Under-19 Championship match between Rawalpindi and Lahore was delicately poised after another day of low scores.

Set 155 to win, Lahore were 41 for three at close of second day’s play at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and the match seemed headed for an exciting finish with a full day remaining.

The visiting side had resumed their first innings at 38-4 replying to Rawalpindi’s 107 but they were sent crashing to 63 all out, paceman Akhtar Ayub playing havoc with 6-38 and Muhammad Ramiz snaring 3-8.

But as in the first innings, the home batsmen proved disappointing and were bowled out for only 110 runs.

Summarised scores:

RAWALPINDI 107 in 39 overs (Owais Zia 36, Yasim Murtaza 21, Muhammad Ramiz 19; Asif Raza 4-26, Muhammad Shahzad 3-18, Shahzad Ali 3-47) and 110 in 42.5 overs (Zahid Mansoor 24, Owais Zia 19, Muhammad Ibrahim 19; Asif Raza 4-25, Muhammad Shahzad 2-32, Shahzad Ali 2-11, Zeeshan Shahid 2-33);

LAHORE 63 in 24.5 overs (Usman Salahuddin 17 not out; Akhtar Ayub 6-38, Muhammad Ramiz 3-8) and 41-3 in 14.1 overs.
