FAISALABAD, Nov 10: An alleged trafficker, who has for a month been fighting for life at the Allied Hospital, breathed her last on Wednesday night.

Reports said the Anti-Narcotics Squad arrested on May 27 last a Singapore national, Meri Chen Sui Mai, from the Faisalabad international airport when she tried to smuggle heroin. She was sent to the district jail after registration of a case.

About a month ago, the prisoner felt pain in her body and her condition deteriorated but the jail administration and doctors refused to provide her medical treatment, believing that she might be feigning illness to get undue favour.

After a suicide threat from the captive, however, the prison authorities shifted her to the District Headquarters Hospital from where she was referred to the Allied Hospital owing to her critical condition.
