RAWALPINDI, Nov 10: The department of Civil Defence has declared 150 factories as security risk demanding for immediate shifting of them from residential areas of the city.
After asking the owners of these factories from time to time, the Civil Defence has now asked the district government, through a letter, to shift these factories outside to safer places to avoid any accident.
The plastic, rubber and furniture factories , set up in the residential areas of Kuri road, Naz Cinema road, Bagh Sardarah and other places can meet any accident causing huge loss of life and property, it said. The department asked the government for shifting of these factories at the earliest.
KALMA CHOWK LIGHTS: Inhabitants of the Kalma Chowk are facing extreme difficulties due to the out-of-order streetlights for a long time now.
At evenings the entire area, including Dhamyal road, Tahili Mohri road and Dhok Seedah road is in utter darkness.
It must be mentioned that the lights were installed with millions of rupee but they are not functioning and the authorities have taken no steps to repair them.
WATER BILL: The Cantonment Board has asked consumers to pay six months water bill in advance otherwise their connections would be suspended.
According to a notification, consumers have been asked to pay six months bill in advance— till June 2006.—Online
