Published November 10, 2005

KARACHI, Nov 9: Shoaib Leghari, a 19-year-old all-rounder, scored a hurricane maiden century to help Hyderabad reach 362 against Abbottabad in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Silver League match at the Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar on Wednesday.

Shoaib came to the crease with Hyderabad struggling at 208 for six and bludgeoned 117 out of the 154 runs which the visiting team added in their first innings after winning the toss.

The right-hander’s 96-ball knock in 135 minutes was laced with 20 boundaries and four sixes. Apart from Shoaib, skipper Faisal Athar (79 off 108 balls, 17 fours) and Aqeel Anjum (74 off 88 balls, 15 fours) also made significant contributions while sharing a fourth-wicket partnership of 80.

Paceman Shakeelur Rahman captured four for 92 and skipper Sajid Shah three for 69.

Abbottabad faced just three deliveries in reply before play ended due to bad light.
