Titwal crossing point ready for opening, says ISPR
ISLAMABAD, Nov 9: Director General Interior Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj-Gen Shaukat Sultan has said that the Titwal crossing point along the Line of Control (LoC) from Pakistani side was ready for opening.
Talking to APP on Wednesday, he said the bridge on Titwal crossing point had been completed from Pakistani side.
He said it was agreed that five crossing points along the Line of Control would be opened on November 7 and Pakistan army had made all arrangements for this purpose. However, only one point along the LoC could be opened as “preparations from other side were not complete”.
The ISPR chief said Rawalakot-Poonch and Chakothi points had been opened and preparations to open the remaining two crossing points along the LoC were also complete. He said: “other side is still not ready to open remaining two crossing points”.
He said it was critic’s view that the Kaghan Valley road could not be reopened for many months but Pakistan army engineers reopened it within a short time.
He said although the Muzaffarabad-Chakoti road had been reopened, one and a half km of its portion was still closed due to landsliding.
He said now there was no shortage of food in the quake-hit areas. He advised the NGOs willing to go to affected areas with relief goods to first approach army base camps there. He said the army had set up base camps in Mansehra, Balakot, Muzaffarabad and Bagh. —APP
