Artistes assured of cooperation

PESHAWAR, Nov 7: Governor Khalilur Rehman has assured the community of artistes that he will strive to get the Nishtar Hall re-opened. The governor said it was important for the local artistes to have a theatre hall where they could stage shows and dramas to entertain people.

He was talking to a representative delegation of the Sarhad Artists Association that called on him at Governor’s House here on Monday.

The team apprised the governor of the problems being faced by their colleagues in the province, especially in Peshawar.

Association’s president Arshad Hussain was leading the delegation, comprising PTV artistes.

The delegation briefed the governor on their problems, particularly due to the lack of infrastructure facilities for the promotion of cultural activities.

Talking to the delegation, the governor appreciated the spirit, devotion and enthusiasm of the artistes towards their profession and responsibilities, and conceded to a point that in fact there existed no dearth of talent in this province.

He also welcomed the role and services of the artistes of the entire country in generating help and assistance for the earthquake-affected people.

In reply to certain demands put forward by the members of the delegation, the governor held out assurance to resolve their grievances at the earliest.

FORMER BALOCHISTAN GOVERNOR: A former governor of Balochistan, Imranullah Khan, called on Governor Khalilur Rehman at the Governor’s House here on Monday.

He remained with the governor for some time and discussed various matters of the common interests.
