SAHIWAL, Nov 7: The district accounts office staff went on strike on Monday against the murder of their colleague. Sub-accountant Muhammad Iqbal was shot at and injured by unidentified motorcyclists on the morning of Oct 28. He was sent to Lahore General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday night. He was buried in his ancestral village Chak 50/5-L on Monday.

Meanwhile, the DAO staff wore black armbands and marched to the district courts where they staged a sit-in and demanded the arrest of the killers.

They announced that they would continue strike till the arrest of the killers.

It is reported that the staff did not allow the post mortem of their follow and the police also did not interfere.

CASE REGISTERED: Fateh Sher police registered a case against 18 people for injuring three children of their rival.

Police said Sikandar Butt and Farooq Afzal Farooqi had been involved in litigation for a long time. They used to have exchange of fire.

On Sunday evening, the Farooqi group opened fire on their rivals which injured three minors, Tayyab, Mohsin and Shahbaz.

Police registered a case against Amir Abdullah Niazi, a DSP on leave prior to retirement, his sons Aamir Niazi, Zaib Niazi, PPP leader Chaudhry Afzal, his sons Farooq Afzal, Haroon Afzal and 12 others including Fakhar Zaman, Zeeshan, Nauman, Sheikh Naved, Sohail, etc.

No arrest has so far been made.

Meanwhile, the condition of one of the injured children is stated to be serious.
